Public speaking is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is not at all easy to address a large audience and actually speak in front of them. It requires higher degree of confidence, determination, body language and proper eye contact. You need to prepare a lot before addressing a large audience.

But nervousness and anxiousness tend to bound and restrict a person in speaking freely and comfortable because a larger audience and hundreds of eyes tend to make you go weak into your knees and thus makes you afraid in speaking in front of them. But this is something which a person has to do in his or her life at least once if not more because when you are in college, you have to give presentations and all. While being in college, you have to give presentations again, along with presenting papers and what not! Life gives you lots of chances to stand on a podium and speak but it is you who doesn’t use it to its full potential.

Some of the ways by which you can actually stop being afraid of addressing a large audience and speaking in front of them are:

  1. Maintain constant eye contact with not the people, instead everything which doesn’t make you nervous. But don’t look towards the roof. Just speak and move your neck in and around. In this way, people would think that you are looking at them while you aren’t actually. But do adopt this technique in presence of hundreds or thousands of people only.
  2. Wear those clothes which actually make you feel comfortable and cozy. What you wear greatly determines your expressions, your mood and overall presence. Thus, be comfortable in whatever you wear.
  3. Put forward your points with facts and figures. This will make people understand you better and thus they would pay less attention to other things.
  4. Maintain proper body language and posture while you speak. Don’t put your hands on your back or make a fist or something, just relax and go with the flow. This would actually make you look and feel chilled out even if you deadly nervous inside.
  5. If you get stuck at some point, don’t waste time thinking of what is to be said. Just say whatever next you remember and don’t stammer. Stammering will actually show that you aren’t confident of what you are saying. Even if you miss something but don’t stops would leave an impression that you remember your content well.

These are some of the implemented and well outcome tips and tricks to not feel afraid while speaking. Although you might feel that you have heard lot of them but don’t make a judgment just on reading the first line. Read till the end and you could see the difference.

Feel free to interact with your audience in the best possible way and go ahead to have a gala time!
