I have Accepted IGNITING MINDS "HARA HAI TOH BHARA HAI" A Green Challenge, given by My son Mr N.Balram IRS Dy Commissioner (customs) Mumbai, of planting 3 trees in the next 10 days and nurturing them for the next 3 years. I am posted the photographs of the same on,

I now Passing the Igniting Minds Hara hai, toh Bhara hai challenge to

1). Shri.Ananth.

2). Shri. Jagan.

3). Shri .Srinu. to do the same. All you have to do is plant 3 trees in your locality and nurture them for 3 years.

The iconic leader, former president of India, the missile man, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's death anniversary falls on 27thJuly. As a fitting tribute to that great soul, who strived for the humanity in general and the people of our nation in particular, we at Igniting minds have decided to restore and revive the green cover by planting trees all across the nation. To make it interesting and a social activity, we have come up with the concept of"GREEN CHALLENGE"We have coined a Slogan,Hara hai toh bhara haito take it forward and make it viral. The State Government of Telangana has come forward to encourage and support this cause as a part of its Haritha Haram Project.

Some very shocking facts have been noticed and the planet is sending us warning signals. Are we listening?

Oxygen consumption by us:

We breathe 7-8 lts of air per minute.

That means 11000 lts of per day (Approx).

Oxygen in the inhaled air is: 20%

Oxygen in the exhaled air is: 15%

We use only 5% of Oxygen in every inhalation. That means we use 550 lts of Oxygen per day.

550 lts of Oxygen = 785.95 gms or 0.78 kgs.

We use 0.78 Kgs of Oxygen per day.

That means 284.70 Kgs per year, say 285 lts.1 Kg of Oxygen is Rs 1300/-.285 Kgs of Oxygen cost is Rs 3,70,500/-.

We use Rs 3.70 lacks of Oxygen in a year freely given by nature.

One average tree can give 100 kgs of Oxygen per year.

We need to plant at least 3 trees in our lifetime to compensate our usage of Oxygen from mother earth.

Forest Cover Loss:

Forest cover 10000 years back was 6 billion hectares, (60,000 lahks hectares) that is 45% of earth.

At present forest cover is 4 billion hectares, (40,0000 lakhs hectares) that is 31% of our earth.

Worldwide we are cutting forest of 200 sq. Kms per day.

Past ten years average forest loss is 5.2 million hectares per year.

Why do we need to plant trees?

A study has revealed that a person on an average consumes 284.7 kgs of Oxygen per year. On an average, a tree produces 100 kgs. of Oxygen per year. It means that on an average a person consumes Oxygen produced by three trees in a year.

Hara hai Toh Bhara Hai is a fun way of reversing the damage caused by deforestation.

What is the challenge?

  1. You will receive theHara hai Toh Bhara Haichallenge from one of your best friends through email, whats app or any other social media links
  1. Once you Accept the challenge plant 3 trees in your locality within 10 days. Nurture them for 3 years. Take a selfie and post it.
  1. Pass the challenge to 3 of your acquaintances to do the same. And the chain continues.
  1. The trees so planted are geotagged and will be kept under watch for the next 3 years.
  1. Every person who accepts the challenge and plant 3 saplings will be honoured as VANAMALI.

Let it be our tribute to Dr. Kalam and a gift to the nation
