Time And Tide Waits For None

Since days immemorial, we have been thought and told that time holds more value than money. Any sort of monetary loss can be retrieved in one way or another, but a loss of time is totally irreplaceable. We have all landed in this world to make a significant difference, any delay or wastage of time may just result in us living a less satisfactory life than what we wanted it to be. Time and Tide are nature controlled, anything close to mood swings, laziness, idleness etc aren't going to hamper the way time and tide behave. Thus goes the proverb, time and tide wait for none.

Knowing the value of time makes us work more efficiently, and the more efficient we are, higher is our success rate. It’s true that we have no control over the running of time, but we can definitely schedule our daily activities in a way we manage it well enough and are sorted in our thoughts. Ever wanted to taste the value of a year, ask a student who failed his exams. Ever thought a month was a short duration, as a monthly wage worker waiting for his salary. Ever thought a week was all about the weekends, ask a weekly editor .To know the value of a day, and speak to a daily wage worker. The value of an hour can be best felt by a husband whose wife is in labor pain. The value of a minute, to a person who missed his train due to reasons like heavy rush and traffic. A second? Too insignificant right? Talk to that person who escaped a narrow accident which saved his life. Each and every aspect of time, whether big or small is very important to a commoner's life.

In each and every field of life, time carries its own value. If a farmer, due to any reasons fails to sow the seed in the right season, he will definitely not reap the crop during the harvest. Quite in the same story line, a single minute of extra time can make your favorite footballer kick the ball and win the match. A delay in the doctors reach could end up being hazardous to the patient’s life. Time actually plays a game of life and death, success and failure in all of our lives, but we are negligent about it.

The following are some ways of effective time management:

  • Set short term goals and try to finish them within the time span.
  • Keep your mind away from any sort of distractions.
  • Avoid over-working or straining yourself beyond your self-limits.
  • Try to do it the correct way the first time itself because a second attempt may waste a lot of time.
  • Most importantly stop procrastinating.

There are several other ways to enhance your time-utilization, all you need to remember is time or opportunity once lost can never be regained or retrieved. So do your best within the time span you are provided with.
