Energy Conservation

The true meaning of energy conservation is to avoid unnecessary usage and better energy saving procedures for future use.

"The earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs but not every man’s greed" said Gandhiji.

December 14th we treat it as a special day because it the day that everybody should be aware about our energy conservation and to bring the awareness we are conducting this day as “National Energy Conservation Day”. On this day we theme many programs related to Energy Conservation discussions, conferences, debates, workshops and rallys and competitions throughout the nation. . It helps to make people aware about how to save energy. Every one of us must encourage and educate people how to reduce energy consumption and encourage for energy saving.

Here are the true facts why it is necessary for us to save energy.

We use energy faster than it can be produced - Coal, oil and natural gas - the most utilised sources take thousands of years for formation.

As we are not the creators of the natural resources we should not be the destructors of our resources. According to the analysis India is poor in energy resources say 1% when compared with world energy crisis to that of 16% of world population.

We save the country our country from this worse situation we have to join our hands and take an oath to contribute our share in the energy saving.

As it is difficult to improve and increase the energy sources, the only options that we all can follow is move towards reuse and renew our resources. According to the reports by experts all our energy resources may last in another 35 to 40 years.

We save our money when we save energy - Imagine your savings if your LPG cylinder comes for an extra week or there is a cut in your electricity bills. We have to shift to some other substitutes to save our energy.

Energy saved is energy generated - When we save one unit of energy, it is equivalent to 2 units of energy produced.

Save energy to reduce pollution - Energy production and use account to large proportion of air pollution and more than 83 percent of greenhouse gas emissions.

Government of India also encourages citizens in various aspects to Conserve Energy. Energy Conservation Act 2001 is also strictly implemented by Government of India. Government of India also created an agency called Bureau of Energy Efficiency , to develop policies and strategies, with an emphasis on self-regulation and market principles under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.

Our Indian Government identified and labelled certain energy intensive industries as “designated Consumers” and made it mandatory for them to conduct Energy Audits and report accordingly.

To drive mass awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under Ministry of Power, celebrates the National Energy Conservation Day. As part of its awareness outreach, BEE recognizes and encourages endeavours of industries in reducing energy consumption by felicitating them with National Energy Conservation Awards from President of India on National Energy Conservation Day.

To make energy conservation plan more effective, every person should include energy conservation in their behaviour.

Ultimately, it can be said that our scientists are engaged in discovering and developing new and alternative resources of energy. But it is our duty to understand the importance of energy and become aware of energy conservation. We should always try that we don't waste energy.
